Vine impressions of your idols

Vine is a hugely growing social media app allowing you to record and edit 7 second videos which loop. Vine has grown in popularity over last year and is getting even more popular as this year goes on and already it's created some web superstars.
The app is filled with variety so there will always be something to suit you. Celebrity impressions are a particular favourite of mine so I had a look on Vine to find some users who can impersonate your idols.

Sunny Mabrey
Sunny Mabrey is probably the most famous person on this post having starred in "Snakes On A Plane" and "Desperate Housewives", however nowadays she's taken to vine to express her acting talent, taking on a wide range of characters from paranoid mothers to Katy Perry. Her vines are definitely worth a watch!

Hannah Pilkes
Hanna Pilkes is an actress who has starred in several short films. She is probably better known on Vine where she does several impressions from Shakira to Bjork. She is best friends with Manon Mathews who is another famous vine user.

Manon Mathews
Manon Mathews is also an actress starring in several commercials. She is best known on Vine for impersonating Kristen Stewart however she has also impersonated Lorde, Ke$ha and several others.

Simone Shepherd
Simone Shepherd is best known on Vine because of her Beyonce impressions. Recently she was seen acting in a parody vine of the recent fight that broke out betwee Jay-Z and Beyonce's sister Solange.

JDWitherspoon
Simone Shepherd's partner in crime. JDWitherspoon is a comedian and YouTuber. He regularly posts impressions on his YouTube channel so check that out. He regularly impersonates Jay-Z.

Elisabeth Jakovenko
Jakovenko is not an actress however she is very funny and does the most amazing impressions of Britney Spears, like they are literally pitch perfect it's frightening. She has also done impressions of Shakira and Christina Aguilera.

To check out these users go onto my Vine profile where I have revined some of their best work!

MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW: Shakira- Dare (La La La)

Yesterday, Artist of the Month March 2014, Shakira released her new music video for her single "Dare (La La La), taken from her tenth studio album "Shakira". "Dare (La La La)" is an uptempo dance track and is also featured on the Fifa World Cup album this year!
The music video is a fast paced fun video, showing various shots of Shakira dancing and walking through streets. It's an outdoorsy video and really fun to watch. There are also shots of Shakira dancing in the middle of a crowd which again adds to the fun.
The style and wardrobe is also really cool as usual showing Shakira in a long skirt, leather and her hair down and swooshing around the way it should! The choice of locations also works really well, the use of the rainbow wall shown in the picture above is a really nice touch.
Overall another great video from this era in Shakira's career. It reminds me of the younger Shakira and that although she may be more mature and have more responsibility she's still up for some good clean fun without having to snuggle up to Rihanna!

SHAKIRA- Album Review

The album of the month is finally here! And it’s certainly a cracker! Once again Shakira has delivered and produced something amazing, here is Magia Media’s track by track review of SHAKIRA!

1.    Dare (La La La)
A great album opener! Dare (La La La) is an up-tempo dance track sure to get you out of your seat and dancing! It has a great spoken verse by Shakira which makes the song even cooler as well as a catchy as hell chorus.

2.    Can’t Remember To Forget You
The fantastic lead single featuring Rihanna. The song combines reggae and rock like some of the other tracks on the album. It’s like an amazing mix of “Don’t Bother” (from Oral Fixation vol.2) and Mon Amour (from She Wolf)

3.    Empire
The second single to be released from the album. This Skyfall-like track shows a clear return to Shakira’s rock-chick roots. It’s a really powerful ballad and very moving with some amazing lyrics. Can’t wait to see how this does as a single!

4.    You Don’t Care About Me
A dramatic break up song. The song sounds like something Gotye would produce but better! It sounds very heated and almost angry but it’s reallllyyyyy good!

5.    Cut Me Deep
This track features Canadian reggae-pop band MAGIC! The track is another reggae-rock anthem. Throughout the track it proves to be very reggae and authentic but at the end it erupts into a total rock-out. It sounds like something from No Doubt and it’s brilliant. Remix featuring Gwen Stifani would be highly appreciated!

6.    Spotlight
2001 rock-out alert! Spotlight sounds like something I would have grown up with, which I love! This track could definitely be a teen-hit as well as sounding really grown up. Definite banger!

7.    Broken Record
Broken Record is a very acoustic and quiet track and sounds really summery and young like Spotlight. Shakira’s vocals are also amazing as per usual!

8.    Medicine
This country-rock track features Blake Shelton, fellow coach on The Voice. It’s a catchy and emotional track and displays a really grown up version of Shakira. Definite single potential! M-m-m-medicine!

9.    23
Another quiet and acoustic track. This is definitely the most personal track on the album as it’s about her husband Gerard Pique. Definitely a song for romantics! (And you can hear her son Milan’s giggle at the end!)

10.  The One Thing
Another rocky as hell track from Shakira! It also has that really young and in love sound we’ve been hearing throughout the album. The beat also sounds really modern and cool. It’s also really catchy!

11.   Nunca Me Acuerdo De Olvidarte
Spanish counterpart of “Can’t Remember To Forget You”.

12.    Loca Por Ti
Big rocky-latin ballad! It sounds like something from her earlier albums “Pies Descalzos” and “Donde Estan Los Ladrones?” Shakira’s vocals are really strong in this track!

13.    La La La
Spanish Counterpart of Dare (La La La).

14.    Chasing Shadows
An 80s-like track! It’s a good mix of pop and rock, almost like something Eurythmics would produce! It was written by Sia and it’s really evident through the style of the track. Brilliant song!

15.   That Way
A big piano ballad. It’s a really nice and pure track showing off the best of Shakira’s amazing voice. A great quiet and emotional way to close the album!

Basically if you thought the album was going to be full of “Can’t Remember To Forget You” and “She Wolf” like tracks you were wrong! This album is emotional, rocky and powerful. I can see why the album is self-titled because every song seems so personal and so alike to the woman Shakira is today. Having being a huge Shakira follower for 12 years I didn’t think Shakira could surprise me anymore but she most certainly has! It definitely ranks as one of her best albums. You might come for the hip shaking and but you’ll stay for the woman that’s for sure!

SHAKIRA is released on Monday in the UK.

Shakira Teams Up With Activia For New Advertising Campaign

Fancy some Activia? I do now after seeing their latest advert! It features Artist of the Month Shakira belly dancing in a forest! To be honest this should have happened years ago, everyone knows how good Activia is for curing bloated stomachs and how good Shakira is at belly dancing. It contains exciting visuals and the cool slogan "Dare To Feel Good".

But the best part about this ad is that it features a clip of the track Dare (La La La), the opening track on Shakira's upcoming self-titled 10th studio album. The track is really bouncy and dancey, sounds like a great way to start the album! Shakira has also worked recently with Oral B and Target to promote her album.

Shakira Album Artwork Countdown

10. Peligro
Shakira’s second album released way back in 1993. The album cover shows Shakira sitting in what looks like a stone wreckage. I admire the setting and the cover however it is my least favourite.

9. Pies Descalzos
Shakira’s third album released in 1996. The album cover  shows Shakira against a chipped paint wall. The cover is nice and artistic however slightly dull.

8. Magia
Shakira’s debut album released in 1990. It’s a fun and colourful cover however it is dated.

7. She Wolf
Shakira’s 8th album released in 2009. The album shows a fierce-looking Shakira. The outfit and Shakira’s hair is really cool and really reflects the sexual nature of the album however the background could be better even though it’s an amazing colour.

6. Donde Estan Los Ladrones?
Shakira’s 4th album released in 1998. I always notice huge similarities between this album cover and the She Wolf album cover. I like the background colour, Shakira’s hair and it’s fascinating to look at. I always wondered as a child why her hands were so dirty though.

5. Sale El Sol
Shakira’s 9th album released in 2010. The album cover shows a natural looking Shakira lying on a beach. I really admire the exoticness of this cover and it looks really summery. It really shows Shakira’s natural beauty.

4. Laundry Service
Shakira’s first international hit from 2001. Shows a naked Shakira with her back to the camera, displaying a tattoo with the album title. What I love about this cover is that the title is a tattoo. It makes the title part of the picture. It’s a really simplistic yet striking image.

3. Fijacion Oral vol.1
Shakira’s 2005 Spanish hit. What I love about this cover is again the simplicity but also how grown up Shakira looks. Her facial expression is striking and reflects some of the dark tracks on the album.

2. Shakira
The new album to be released in 10 days! This is Shakira at her sexiest. The guitar is a really nice touch too making it really personal. The lack of clothes also makes her appear more exposed and open. The typography also reminds me of modern fashion branding.

1.     Oral Fixation vol.2
The 2005 English hit album. This is probably the most artistic and detailed artwork Shakira has ever produced. It shows Shakira in her most natural form, naked yet covered by the tree branches. The whole shoot just works really well, from the apple, to the baby to the setting. A work of art.
