MAGIA MODA: Style Icon- Paloma Faith

I feel like I've been neglecting the whole fashion side of my blog. I started it almost 2 months ago and to this date I've only posted 2 style icons! So sorry about that fashion lovers!
Dress from ASOS
As we all know, Paloma Faith is a huge fashion icon in the UK. Her quirky and vintage style rarely goes unnoticed and she's always seen wearing eye-catching pieces at various fashion events around the world. While her choice of outfits may be hideously expensive you can still create your own Paloma-inspired look at a reasonable price. So I went on a hunt for one of Paloma's best outfits and found out how you can achieve this look yourself at a reasonable budget!

The outfit I chose was the one Paloma wore at Milan Fashion Week last year. Paloma's outfit consisted of a baby blue wool dress from the Armani AW13 collection, some baby pink sandals and floppy hat with white socks, all of which created a vintage, cute and brave look.

Searching for a similar dress was pretty difficult however I did manage to find a dress similar in colour and shape, while the material may not be exact you'll still bring across that look Paloma has. The dress I found was on ASOS and costs just £31.50.
When choosing a hat you have to make sure you choose a light colour so it doesn't clash too much with the dress. Generally baby colours like creams and pinks go well with the light blue of the dress. Topshop has a great range of floppy hats which I demonstrated to you when Miss Li was our Style Icon.
Topshop also has a great range of shoes, while they may be slightly pricey, you'll be satisfied with what you get due to my general experience of buying Topman shoes. They have a fantastic pair of T-Bar sandals in baby pink, which is perfect for mocking up your Paloma look. Finish up with a pair of white socks and you're good to go!

As for your hair you don't have to go bright orange if you don't want to. But you can achieve the style easily as demonstrated in this short video here! And if you want a price lock for lock version of how to get Paloma's hair check out this video here!

Paloma's look is cute, vintage and lady-like. If you choose this look you should expect a wide range of compliments. I've seen people pull of similar looks before and it works really well! So definitely give it a try.

Style Icon: Miss Li

Welcome to the second post from Magia Moda, the fashion element of my blog! This week I'm looking at Swedish sweetheart Miss Li! She's currently single of the week which you can check out here!

Miss Li is quite a big fashion deal in Sweden, she is known for her authentic vintage looks and over the past 8 years in music she's really perfected her style! She's even gone off to design her own collection of unique dresses and hats for Indiska a fab Swedish clothing and furnishing company! In this post I'm going to look at her Indiska collection as well as tell you how to get her style from high street brands!

Miss Li's Indiska collection is really vibrant and vintage. She was inspired by 60s colours and patterns while designing the collection. There is a great collection of dresses which are mainly long and silky. To get the look illustrated right click on the links below:

For a more accessible Miss Li look, some of your favourite high street brands offer similar items of clothing, perfect for creating your Miss Li inspired look!

Dresses
In terms of dresses, go for something long and something generally vibrant. River Island has a fantastic range of maxi dresses which you can view here. If you want you can add a long cardigan. H&M offer great long cardigans at great prices.

Hats
Topshop offers a great range of floppy hats which are essential for turning your dress into a Miss Li inspired look.

Shoes
Generally something chunky and vintage works. I'd suggest platform sandals as I've seen Miss Li wearing them quite a bit. Again River Island offers a wide selection of these.

Miss Li is a great fashion icon and has a really unique quirky sense of style. If you choose to go for this look expect a lot of admiration, it's a really brave and genuine look.

STYLE ICON: Miguel

Welcome to a new part of Magia Media! "Magia Moda" is the fashion element of my blog, every Tuesday I'll be picking a well-dressed singer (Style Icon) and showing you how to get their look.

The first "Style Icon" is Miguel. Miguel is an R&B singer who has collaborated with the likes of Janelle Monae and Mariah Carey. On top of his amazing vocals he has an amazing sense of style! Here's how to get his look:

Topman £90
Topman £120
1. Jacket
With Miguel you have two options, gangster biker jacket or a smart suit jacket. The suit jacket should be mainly dark colours such as bottle green or navy blue or even burgundy. You can get these items from Topman however they can be really pricey, but you'll get the best quality and a long lasting purchase.
H&M £3.99
H&M £19.99

2. Shirt
Simplicity is key. Miguel goes for simplicity but adds to the simplicity with accessories. If you're going for the biker jacket look pick a plain t-shirt, you can get great plain tees from H&M at great prices. You can experiment with the colours but white tends to look best.
For the suit jacket look, a plain white shirt will do best. You can add patterns but make sure it's patterns on a white shirt. Again you can buy this from H&M.

Topman £20
3. Trousers
Whatever Miguel look you're going for, the same trousers work well. Black slim fit jeans (not skinny) are the best. Also roll them up at the ends to show off your amazing footwear! Topman have the best selection of jeans and trousers to fit anyone.

Prada studded creepers
Underground £78
4. Shoes
Miguel has amazing shoe sense. He often wears Prada studded black creepers. Miguel likes to combine smart and quirky and he really does this through his choice in footwear. Be prepared to make brave bold purchases. Stuff like Doc Martens will also do well.

H&M £6.99
River Island £6
4. Accessories
To top off your outfit load up on accessories. Miguel wears lots of rings and in particular collar tips and chains. Topman sells the widest range of jewellery on the high street and you're almost guaranteed to pick up some great sale items for £1. Also retro black sunglasses are essential to complete your Miguel outfit.

5. Hair
To get the Miguel hair you should probably get it shaved at the sides either grade 2 or if you're brave enough 1. Leave the top relatively long and quiff it up! If you have thin hair load up with mousse and dry it in then add volume boosting powder. Then to hold it in place spray it. This is my method I use daily to do my hair.

The Miguel look is great if you want to look smart and casual at the same time. It can be relatively expensive in terms of jackets and shoes but you can find all the other items cheap. Don't be afraid to customise to create your own unique look!
