SINGLE OF THE WEEK: My Favourite Game- The Cardigans
For this week's Single of the Week I thought a throwback would be cool! So I threw myself back to 1998 when Swedish band, The Cardigans released their fab single "My Favourite Game". The song is an alternative pop song and it's really infectious!
However the only thing that tops the song is the video for the song! The video is action-packed, it's rebellious and it's tough. The video depicts lead singer Nina Persson joyriding through the desert using a rock to hold down the accelerator of her car. She is seen causing mayhem and destruction running other cars off the road. In the end she crashes into a van. However the ending was shot 5 different times to suit TV guidelines. In some versions including the version linked below, Persson is seen being thrown over the van and hits the road dead, in another version she tries to get up and the rock hits her on the head. In other versions she gets off the ground and walks away after hitting the van. In one version she is decapitated and in the other version she is simply seen driving away.
The video caused a lot of controversy despite being filmed 4 times. Many said it encouraged joy riding and could cause accidents amongst teens. However I think it's a pretty cool and badass video! Just because Miley Cyrus smokes blunts on stage and Britney shaves her head doesn't mean I want to follow in the same way.
Watch the action packed video here!
